Test Render

Just a test render to see what the outcome was by altering the render settings.

Exposure Control

Here I was testing the lighting using different settings of brightness.
These settings were altered in the Exposure Control > Physical Scale > Unitless.

The settings of 100,000

The settings of 50,000

The settings of 70,000

What made me happy making the exposure settings higher was it actually lit up my interior as I had trouble trying to light them up using omnis.

Update

I've decided to change the outside material of the building because I felt the previous material made the building look too fake. So now the material is of wooden bars across.

Just a quick test to see what the Modern Globe Theatre would look like. Still need to texture and create better lighting with scenes. Sorry for any poor quality video, this was just quickly rendered so I could see what it was like in rotation.

Update

Just a render. I feel that I need to change the material around the building. It makes it look too fake. I will be looking for an alternative to make it look better.
This was a render of the top floor. The problem with this is that there isn't enough lighting inside so I need to find a way to light up my interiors.

Just wanted to see what the building looks like on a plane and sky showing. Seems the lighting is working.

Lighting test using different settings. Seems there is a little bit more light compared to the below image. I also added a yellow tint in the lighting to give a better effect.

Just a lighting test to see if the interior would show up. This one wasn't clear enough.

Inspiration Photos

The chairs here were inspirational in terms of simplicity.

The interior here stands out in terms of design and layout. I like the colour use here as well as they seem to work well together.

Found the design of the structure interesting.

Reference of a elevator for my own model.

Inspiration Photos

Thought it was interesting in terms of building design and layout.

The glass panes and structure of the building here were inspirational. Would be useful for me as I am doing the Globe Theatre. So they are both similar in structure.

Was particularly interested in the colour scheme used here for the furniture

Just a nice simplistic table. Good reference for something I dont want to put too much detail in.

The idea of having an illuminating sofa was funny but inspirational.

Daylight Testing 2

Thursday, 29 April 2010

Skylight Testing

These are some tests on my scene using the daylight system. The sunlight is mental ray and I basically wanted to see what the scenes would be like if I used lighting now.

Ground Floor

Just seeing if the shadows and colours worked well. Think there is too much shadow overcasting the reception desks.
I was particularly interested to see if my transparent glass would work well.

Outside Screenshots

Was checking to see what the clear glass material was like when lit.

Colour Tests

Just testing some colours for the inner walls of the first floor. Trying to decide what works well with the furniture around the wall. I think the orange works well with the furniture.

Colour Schemes

Trying to find a good colours schemes so I was looking at some typical room colours.

Particularly interested in the cool colours more than I am with the warm colours.

Mental Ray Tests

I used some mental ray lighting (spot light and omni light) over the building. I wanted to see if the materials for the outter wall worked to how I wanted it to be. What I found wrong with this test was my glass materials were turning up too blue.

Just checking to see if there were any problems with the objects. Now need to see what colours will be suitable for the first floor.

Update

Some screenshots of the first floor. Updating and seeing what it looks like from different angles.

Added the inner wall in the middle.

Added double doors near the kitchen area at the back of the building.

Update

Started adding the first floor furniture e.g. sofas and mini barriers.

Update

Added some clear glass walls in the scene. Also added reception desk. I wanted to stylized the the first floor by adding some glass walls inside.

Just updating the main building.

First Floor Update

Used the glazed material here but found it made the floor too dark.

Seeing if the material used here was better then the first one.
